Culturally Responsive Curriculum
The Renae Kimble Academy is founded on the belief that every student deserves strong foundational skills necessary to thrive as they advance through their adolescent years. We are committed to ensuring that scholars are fully prepared for the next level, academically, socially, and emotionally.
Libraries have long served as a first line of defense against ignorance, yet they are disappearing from many of our local communities and schools. We must return to the basics, where children learn to write with purpose rather than be influenced by a culture that often diminishes the value of language and learning. The reality is that video games, TikTok, and Instagram have become powerful influences in the lives of our children. While technology presents significant challenges for both students and educators, we do not shy away from them.
At Renae Kimble Academy, we embrace the challenge. Our goal is not to replace technology, but to leverage it, empowering students to become creators of programming rather than passive participants being programmed in this technological revolution.
Our instructional priorities include culturally relevant teaching, high-quality and rigorous instruction, and literacy through STEM. We believe students deserve excellence in instructional practices, guided by educators who lead with compassion and love. As a holistic school, we are committed to supporting not just part of the child, but the whole child. Not some of the children but all of the children.
As Frederick Douglass wisely stated:
“Education means emancipation. It means light and liberty. It means the uplifting of the soul of man into the glorious light of truth. The power of education is such that it makes a man unfit to be a slave.”
